Vehicle: 1987 Peterbilt 379 EXHD Extended Hood
Powertrain/Drivetrain Type and Modifications:
- Engine: Cummins 400
- Turbocharged/Intercooled: Holset turbo – Model NT3B ; 24 psi boost
- Cummins Intercooler: Air to water
- Injector pump: Cummins – modified for higher flow
- Fuel Injection nozzles: Cummins
- Engine soda blasted and painted to match body
- Air induction tubing removed, powder coated electric purple with a new K&N external mount air filter system
- Exhaust manifold stripped, bead blasted, treated with high temperature Jet Coat
- Transmission: Manufacturer – Eaton “Road Ranger” 15 speed w/ overdrive
- Rear Axles – Dual; Manufacturer – Eaton
Chassis Type and Modifications:
- Peterbilt 287 in. wheel base
- Factory air ride suspension
Exterior Modifications:
- Complete frame off rebuild
- Cab, sleeper, hood stripped and repainted Jet Black from Hot Hues by DuPont
- Frame, transmission, final drive soda blasted and painted to match body
- Fuel tanks, steps, trim molding, mirrors & brackets removed, cleaned, black powder coated
- Custom integrated fuel tank/exhaust brackets – Polished stainless steel/Chromed billet aluminum
- Exhuast system tubes chrome plated and rerouted to side dump (“Lakester style”)
Battery boxes — Black powder coated w/ polished stainless steel cover, custom emblems by Flaming River
- New bumper – 22” deep (4” lower than stock)
- New windshield visor – 14” deep (6” deeper than original), black powder coated
- Original aluminum wheels bead blasted, black powder coated with chrome hub/center covers and lug caps
- Removed original rear fenders, replaced with flamed fiberglass fenders - painted black with purple/blue/white flames
- New black bucket style headlights with integral top mounted turn signals – halogen bulbs
- Orange LED sidemarker and clearance lights on truck and trailer
- Removed fifth wheel pin, converted to gooseneck ball hitch
- Installed polished stainless steel deck on frame between rear of sleeper and rear of truck
- Replaced original Peterbilt logos with billet aluminum ovals – “Pete 379” engraved into oval, mounted on backlit LED housings
- Trailer painted to match with Flaming River identification graphics on sides and rear tailgate
Interior Modifications:
- Cab and sleeper completely stripped, refurbished
- New Design Engineering sound deadening installed in cab and sleeper
- New carpeting installed
- New headliner, interior door panels, side/rear interior treatment (sleeper)
- New dash cover
- Four new air ride seats for cab and sleeper
- New wood cabinetry in sleeper
- New sound system in cab/sleeper – Satellite radio, Radio/CD/Cassette/MP3 player, speaker system, television, DVD player, tuner, PlayStation 3 video game system
- Dual air conditioning/heat temperature control for cab/sleeper
- GPS Navigation system
- Aftermarket steering wheel
